ISLAMABAD: The FATA Disaster Management Authority (FDMA), on Friday, released a fresh tranche of Rs 12,000 per family for the monthly cash assistance to the Temporarily Dislocated Persons (TDPs) of North Waziristan region.
The FDMA spokesperson, Ihsan Dawar, said that more than 13,000 families got the amount via SMS service and 2,000 more families would get the same amount within the next three days.
“It was the 44th tranche since the military operation, Zarb e Azb, was launched in the North Waziristan District on 15th of June 2014. The amount was released to the TDPs who were still not repatriated due to certain reason,” Dawar said, adding that so far a total of more than Rs 32 billion was distributed among the TDPs.
Dawar said that the Director General (DG) FDMA, Mehmood Aslam Wazir, discussed the issue of remaining installments of all the TDPs and directed the concerned authorities to coordinate with the Ministry of States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) so that the pending payments of the aid could be released as soon as possible.
Wazir, who recently took charge of his office as DG FDMA, took immediate steps to facilitate the homeless families of North Wazirstan. “We are well aware of their problems and we are trying to resolve all the issues faced by the TDPS,” Wazir said, adding that the TDPs would soon get the news of repatriation to their respective areas. “Protests and demonstrations are not the solution because we are working whole heartedly to resolve the issues of TDPs,” DG FDMA told while pointing to the protest staged by the TDPs of North Waziristan yesterday in front of the Bannu Press Club.
