ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Foreign Office on Thursday summoned Afghanistan’s chargé d affaires in Islamabad to record protest over delay in return of Superintendent Police (SP) Tahir Dawar’s body.
Pakistan has registered strong protest over the inordinate delay and manner of return of the body of martyred SP Tahir Dawar. The foreign office also summoned a written explanation over the delay.
FO spokesman Dr Muhammad Faisal said an official delegation was sent to Afghanistan to bring back Dawar’s mortal remain. “We lodged a protest with Afghanistan over the delay in handing over SP Dawar’s body,” he added. “We have demanded that his body be handed over to Pakistan immediately.”
The funeral prayer of martyred SP Dawar was offered at Police line in Peshawar on Thursday.
KP Governor Shah Farman, Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Afridi, IG KP police Salahuddin Khan Mahsud and other officials attended the funeral.
People turned out in large numbers to attend the funeral prayer of the slain police officer.
The body of martyred Tahir Dawar has been handed over to Pakistani officials at the Torkham border to Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Khan Afridi, Shaukat Yousafzai, Mohsin Dawar, Deupty Commissioner Khyber and other security officials.
