Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz Sharif Monday said that the Pakistan Stock Exchange was experiencing worst days of its history but the government was busy demolishing walls of the Punjab Governor House.
In a statement, the opposition leader said that the government should quit their meaningless stunts and converge their energy, if any, to revive the economy. “Instead of tearing down the walls of Governor House, the government should work to revive the economy,” he said.
“The salaried, middle-class and impoverished people of the country are buried under the increasing tariffs and inflation while the government was least concerned about their problems.”
Hamza questioned the law and rules under which the government had the authority to demolish a building, which is part of the historic and political heritage of Punjab and Pakistan. “Replacing the walls with iron fences was the most incomprehensible and irrational step which has no utility at all, other than a tactic of distraction,” he added.
“Will any institution hold the government accountable for this whimsical plundering of public money?” he asked.
“The prime minister has nothing to offer to the people of Pakistan than his U-Turns, incendiary and indecent rhetoric. The people of Pakistan and the country are in grave danger in the hands of such drastically incompetent individuals,” Hamza concluded.
