Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry Saturday said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government will not make any compromise on the ongoing accountability process in the country.
Addressing a ceremony in Lahore, Fawad said the masses gave them mandate to hold all the corrupt accountable, adding that the government will not betray its voters.
Fawad slammed the previous governments of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) for destroying the state institutions through political appointments and corruption. He was of the view that PTI government had inherited ‘financially empty institutions’. He said Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) and Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) among other institutions have been destroyed. “When institutions go down, the whole country goes down,” he added.
Speaking at the launching ceremony of the book ‘Talkhiyyan’ here at the Aiwan-e-Iqbal, the minister said institutional and sectoral reforms initiated by Prime Minister Imran Khan would ensure a very positive change in the people’s lives. He said the reforms would also prove to be beneficial for the working journalists with upgrading of their socio-economic status. The PTI government was taking effective measures to streamline the affairs of media industry by resolving the problems of journalists, he added.
Minister suggests opposition parties to now form an ‘alliance for restoration of corruption”
Fawad said the government had completed working on the wage board award, besides introducing a new advertising policy under which the role of advertising agencies has been minimized. Media houses, he said, would now receive advertisements directly from the ministry.
Later in a tweet, the minister asked the opposition parties to now form an ‘alliance for restoration of corruption’. “It does not make any difference if they form alliance now or later, they will end up in jails,” he posted on his Twitter handle. The corrupt politicians, he added, had strange wishes. “They had looted and plundered national wealth for building personal properties but expect that the masses would start agitation to protect their ill-gotten money.”
