GUJRAT: A shoe aimed at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf Chairman Imran Khan hit the party’s senior leader Aleem Khan on Tuesday evening at a rally of party workers in Gujrat.
Imran Khan was present atop a vehicle with fellow PTI leaders and staff addressing the gathering of workers to whip up support for the party’s ongoing membership campaign when a shoe hurled at him hit Aleem Khan who was standing right next to him. A staff member immediately came in front of the PTI leader to cover him. Soon after the incident, Imran abruptly ended his speech and left the makeshift stage.
The incident comes two days after a religious activist threw a shoe at PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif during an event at the Jamia Naeemia in Lahore.
The same day PTI workers had grabbed and beaten up a man for attempting to hurl shoe at Imran Khan at a rally in Faisalabad. A day prior to that, a man threw black ink on the face of Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif during a PML-N workers convention in Sialkot. Last month, a man hurled a shoe at Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal while he was addressing a workers convention in Narowal.
