The parents of girls enrolled at the Government Girls Degree College (GGDC) Larkana held a protest demonstration at the Jinnah Bagh on Saturday demanding the running of point to point buses for their daughters.
The protestors included Aijaz Ali Abro, Ali Gul Chandio, Qasim Ali Abbasi, Bahlul Gopang and others. While talking to the media, the protestors said that their daughters and hundreds of other girls who are studying in the GGDC have to bear extreme hardships to reach the college and come back home after the college. They said they have to pay extra amount to cover the travel expenditure of their daughters which they cannot afford since they are poor people. They demanded of the Sindh Government to launch Point Bus Service in Larkana to pick and drop the girls so that they can study further and serve the country.
Meanwhile, it was reported that a point bus already given to the Government Girls Degree College, Naundero, is lying idle as the administration has not provided the driver and budget for the procurement of diesel. In this connection, the sources said that the principal of the college has written a letter to the Regional Director of Colleges but the response is still awaited despite passage of one year. The parents and the citizens have urged the Sindh Government to urgently take notice of the matter and resolve it on priority basis so that the girls can continue their studies.
